Do You Know? Why Samsung Galaxy A50 Is A Great Attempt Yet To Defend Off The All Chinese Competition?

Samsung Galaxy A50

“Our two cents on Samsung’s most powerful smartphone in the A series which is Samsung Galaxy A50.”

As the latest report from IDC (International Data Corporation), Korean tech giant Samsung has missed a large piece of its market share to many Chinese OEMs in India.

Be it is Xiaomi, Redme Note 7 which displaced a unique brand from its top spot, or phone makers like Realme and Honor, and the company is facing race left, right and center.

But Samsung isn’t one to get things lying down, and the Chaebol’s latest mobile phones are well-equipped to take the battle straight to the Chinese entrance.

The company has started its battle with the Galaxy M series, and now it’s extending that with the launch of a trio of a handset in the Galaxy A series.

The devices in the A series are valued quite competitively, and yet come packed by powerful features. One such phone is the Galaxy A50.

Galaxy A50 Design and display

Samsung has a propensity for creating good-looking smartphones, but it abstained from bringing that to the affordable section. The Galaxy A50 changes that notion on its head.

The device comes clad in a polycarbonate body, but we are willing to bet that the smartphone’s glossy finish will mislead you into deeming that it’s made of glass. The device seems straight out of a chic boutique store, and it comes in various active colors.

However, buyers living in India will be confined to Black, Blue and White colorways of the handset.

Samsung has also paid heed to the small things, such as keeping the camera bump to the least, through ensuring you can use the device even when it’s put on a smooth table.

What’s more, the physical buttons are well tactile, and there’s also an in-display fingerprint sensor in a device, making it one of the most affordable phones to boast a vague fingerprint reader.

we also get a 3.5mm headphone jack with the handset, which is always a pleasant sight along by a USB Type-C port for charging the device, bringing up Samsung’s affordable handset up to the speed with the opposition.

The Samsung Galaxy A50 gives an exceptional in-hand grip too. The device huddles comfortably in the palms owing to its tapered back which compounds seamlessly into the edges.

The corners have been rounded off as well, which coupled with the phone’s smooth girth secure that you won’t feel the device pressing against your femora when it’s inside the pocket of your jeans. And, thanks in no little part to its smooth bezels, the 6.4-inch display on the Galaxy A50 can be run with just one hand quite easily.

The design of the phone is not externally its flaws though. The back panel of the device is a fingerprint magnet, and the phone doesn’t feel as premium in hand like a decent glass-back phone either.

But, on the whole, the phone’s design is up there with the most stylish offerings in this section.

Galaxy A50 Display

Galaxy A50 comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, which supports FHD+ resolution. Unsurprisingly, using content on the handset is a visual feast, since the panel features a small Infinity-U notch which isn’t as nosy as a regular camera cut-out.

What’s more, Samsung has added a collection of cool animations to highlight the phone’s U-shaped notch too, and there’s a shift effect when you unlock the phone using facial identification or switch to the selfie camera in the camera app. The panel has excellent viewing edges too, and it gets honestly bright as well.

The display on the Galaxy A50 is among the best its class.

Galaxy A50 Performance and software

Samsung Galaxy A50 is powered by the company’s own Exynos 9610 octa-core processor which worked beside 4GB of RAM and 64GB for user-expandable storage. However, customers watching for a bit more grunt can opt for a 6GB RAM variant of the device too.

The Exynos 9610 uses ARM’s older Cortex-A73 performance cores which work in connection with battery-efficient Cortex A53 cores. Consequently, you should expect higher performance from a smartphone which is supported by newer Cortex-A75 or A76 performance cores, such as the newly launched Redmi Note 7 Pro.

Samsung has raised the ante in the software section and the Galaxy A50 boots the company’s One UI on top of Android Pie. We always disliked the company’s culture skin, but the brand’s all-new One UI comes across as the breathing of fresh air.

The skin is quite minimalistic and comes bundled by practical features like an all-dark mode, a device manager and navigational gestures. What’s more, the company has deployed some quick animations to better the UI experience.

Like, swiping down on the home-screen brings down the notification tray, but the kicker is that when you swipe down on display again, the icons at the top are reduced further, making them more available to someone with tiny hands.

Everything considered, it was about time Samsung improved its software and with One UI, the company has genuinely outdone itself.

Galaxy A50 Cameras

Samsung is no newcomer to providing its devices with multiple cameras, and the Galaxy A50 too features with triple-camera array towards the back holding a 25MP f/1.7 regular shooter, an 8MP for a wide-angle lens with a 123-degree of the field of view and a 5MP for depth sensor.

For selfies, the phone comes with a 25MP f/2.0 sensor.

Galaxy A50 Battery

As for the battery life, the Samsung Galaxy A50 comes with a 4,000mAh cell which succeeded to last me a full day on heavy usage.

 Galaxy A50 Conclusion

Galaxy A50 is Samsung’s great attempt yet to defend off the all Chinese competition. The phone offers a superb design, a charming display, long-lasting battery life, great cameras, and excellent performance while being valued quite competitively.

The handset starts at Rs 19,990, which honestly, is an excellent price from Samsung.
