  • Performance not assmoothas the competition

Here is Vivo S1 we came to expect too much from and for excellent reason from the design of inexpensive handsets. When it comes to the general looks of a phone, smartphones like the Realme X and the Redmi K20 have significantly upped the ante, and so I expect other companies to follow suit as well. To that extent, with its gradient back design and peppy blue hue, the Vivo S1 did not fail to bedazzle me. The S1 is one of the best-looking handsets in the affordable segment right now, coupled with the golden accents around its camera module and an eye-catching diamond pattern finish on its back.

Unfortunately, its design is not without its faults, as high as the phone looks. For starters, the device still ships with an old micro-USB port as opposed to the new Type-C standard that has been embraced by many of Vivo’s rivals. Also, the S1 has a significant camera bump, and if you attempt to use it when it is held flat on the table, the phone will rattle. Finally, as it smudges very readily, you’ll have to spend a nice portion of time wiping the device’s back.

Fortunately, the business is correcting some mistakes by making the S1 pleasantly one-hand friendly. The phone characteristics chamfered edges and a curvy trim that made it easy to grip. I could even reach the top tips of the phone and pull down the notification bar while walking in a subway that talks volumes about the ergonomics of the device. You’ll also appreciate the existence of a headphone jack on the Vivo S1 if you’re still using wired earphones.

The Vivo S1 displays a 6.38-inch Super AMOLED display with a 404 PPI pixel density. It results in 1,080x 2,340 pixel screen resolution.

The Vivo S1 is fitted with a 16MP, 8MP, and 2MP triple camera configuration. The cameras can press outstanding pictures, and videos of quality can also be recorded. There’s a 32MP selfie shooter on the front that also helps make video calls easier.

As 2.1GHz Cortex A73 and 2GHz Cortex A53, the tablet has two quad-core processors under the hood. The processors are managing the system’s general efficiency and sitting on a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset. These are accompanied by a 6 GB RAM, which makes it simple to handle various duties. There is also a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU which takes care of the graphical requirements.

The device has a wide range of connectivity options such as VoLTE 4 G, mobile hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS, micro USB, and Wi-Fi connections.

The Vivo S1 comes with integrated storage of 128 GB that helps to store a lot of files and records in it. Using a memory card, storage can be further expanded to 256 GB.

There is a 4,500mAh Li-ion battery acting as the stamina supplier that offers extended hours of backup. It also comes with a rapid charging technology, which in a short time will refill the battery.

The Vivo S1 retailers offer an attractive design, long-lasting battery life, and reliable results for a starting cost of Rs 15,990. Unfortunately, the handset’s pricing pits it against systems such as the Realme X, the OPPO K3 and the company’s own Vivo Z1 Pro, which give better boost efficiency along with sharper cameras on the back. This brings the S1 in a hard place and overshadows the comfort of picking up the phone from your closest retail outlet. Thus, despite bringing some quality characteristics to the table, due to the cutthroat competition in the accessible room right now, it is hard to advise the S1.
